A fresh fruit tart from Angelina's on the Rue de Rivoli... or ANYTHING from Angelina's...
Part V: What Does One Eat in Paris?
Les Desserts...
by Victoria Challancin
When in Paris, I like to save my food splurges for a few pre-selected restaurants--some old favorites, some new. On a daily basis, I often supplement a continental breakfast and snacks with one large meal, usually a formule, or fixed-price menu with several choices. You can usually choose a set price with two or three courses: Starter, Main Dish, and Dessert or Cheese Plate; Starter and Main Dish; or Main Dish and Dessert. More often than not I select a starter (who can resist a bowl of wine-steamed mussels?) and main dish, preferring to save my dessert for another time. A Mont Blanc from Angelina's? Les Macarons from Ladurée? One scoop of ice cream or two from Berthillon's? Or practically any selection from any patisserie in Paris...There are just too many options for this sweet lover.
Crêpes Suzette...well, of course!
Crème Brûlée...another French classic
A humble version of Mousse au Chocolat...humble, but delicious nevertheless
A light and silky Crème Caramel
being warmed at the table...
and served with fresh fruit...
Was it good?
Was it good? You tell me...
Macaroons from Angelina's
...or from Ladurée...
or any other choice from either shop...
Crème Brûlée redux? I think you can never enjoy too many
Ice cream from Maison Berthillon? Of course. Daily.
Daily.
When will Flavors of the Sun Travel's next trip to Paris be? Stay tuned...
